7. 'Far Cry 6' (PS5/PS4/XSX/XOne/PC)

Far Cry 6 plunges players into the heart of a modern-day guerrilla revolution set in Yara, a tropical paradise frozen in time.

Tony "OUberLord" Mitera: I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with the Far Cry series lately. Far Cry 3 felt boldly new, but since then, the franchise has had some highs and lows and has become stuck in an awfully repetitive rut. The tropical setting and the big names attached to the game are interesting, as is the idea of fighting against a fascist dictator to liberate a country, but these also feel like things that the series has done before. Here is hoping that Far Cry 6 is more than just a swap in setting and a few other nouns.

Adam Pavlacka: The Far Cry formula is pretty well known at this point, so I'm not expecting any major shifts in tone when the game drops, but I am looking forward to another evolution in the series. Both Far Cry 5 and Far Cry New Dawn took the established series mechanics and tweaked them in ways that improved the experience without departing from it. They were familiar enough that you could jump right in, yet iterative enough that they still felt fresh. If there's a video game equivalent of comfort food, Far Cry is it. Now, when do I get a proper sequel to Blood Dragon?

Andreas Salmen: The sixth entry of Far Cry has several things going for it: a more urban environment, a promising cast, and possibly some next-gen improvements like ray tracing. The setting certainly fits Far Cry's MO perfectly, but here's hoping that Ubisoft takes a few more risks to move away from its tried-and-true open-world formula. Even if they don't, we'll likely get another solid Ubisoft open-world title, which is usually good for a few hours of fun.
