AMD announced the addition of AMD Phenom triple-core processors to its desktop roadmap, expected to be the world’s first PC processors to integrate three computational cores on a single die of silicon. The triple-core can help deliver the visual experience, performance and multitasking capabilities of true multi-core technology to a broader audience.

IBM Corp. said it has been shipping microprocessors that will be used to power Nintendo's upcoming Wii video game console since July. IBM, who also makes chips for PS3 and Xbox 360, earlier this year signed a multiyear agreement to supply Nintendo with chips made at its East Fishkill, N.Y. plant.

Atari is working closely with AMD to develop Shadow Ops: Red Mercury for personal computer using AMD's advanced AMD Athlon 64 series of simultaneous 32- and 64-bit processors. The 64-bit version of the game will be included with the 32-bit version and will allow for improved textures, better image quality, faster game performance and an enhanced gameplay experience.
