EA has posted new information on the upcoming Battlefield 1942 v1.5 patch. This patch is primarily a content upgrade which modifies the Japanese and US forces in the Pacific Theater. It also introduces a new map for the Pacific. This patch also includes a fix for the CD-Swapping issue introduced with 1.45. No release date is mentioned though. Read more for a detailed list ...

EA has released the promised v1.45 update patch for Battlefield 1942. This v1.45 uprade will get you ready for the upcoming Secret Weapons of WWII (it ships next week). Battlecraft is the official level editor for Battlefield: 1942. In order to ensure that users can connect to a Battlecraft-created map, use a dedicated server with content checking OFF. In this new Battlefield 1942 map, German forces must disable four RAF radar towers as well as the heavily-protected Harwich Weapons Factory on the coast of England. If the British can defend these targets until the German tickets run out, they can wrest victory from the jaws of defeat. With one new vehicle and one new weapon entering the fray, the Battle of Britain is set to be Battlefield 1942's fiercest campaign yet. More info is expected tomorrow (

This is the v1.4 dedicated Linux (beta 7) server for EA/Digital Illusions' multiplayer first-person shooter BattleField 1942. After we had a leaked version, EA has now finally released the official v1.4 update patch for BattleField 1942. This upgrade includes two new rifles replacing earlier versions, some gameplay tweaks, graphical enhancements, networking improvements, bug fixes etc. The update comes in two flavors, one from the last v1.31 update or the full (and much larger) version. A post on the official Battlefield 1942 website let us know following about the recent leaked 1.4 patch:
It has come to our attention that a non-final version of the 1.4 patch has surfaced on the web. Please note that this is NOT the final version of 1.4, and it WILL NOT be compatible with the final version of 1.4. We strongly recommend that you do not install it. If you have installed it, our suggestion is that you reinstall BF 1942.

VE3D that EA has updated the official Battlefield 1942 site with a new community update. This week the impending 1.4 patch is discussed further: Here are more features that you can look forward to in the 1.4 patch:
- New and improved sounds in 1st person view, such as increased volume of impacts, louder grenade explosions and a new sound for the Axis Assault rifle STG44
- Scoreboard now shows current server's name, IP address and map name. Scoreboard also shows each player's ID number, which is used for creating your buddy list/voting to kick a player
- Rear gunner for Stuka/SBD/Ai-chi-val now has crosshair. Incremental patching will be available for clients (smaller 1.31-1.4 download)
- Added a new blood effect for additional feedback when you are hitting another soldier

The official site for Battlefield 1942 is updated with a new Vehicle, the German Sturmmorser Tiger (Sturmtiger). When the Germans needed a powerful field vehicle to destroy fortified positions, the idea to merge a heavy 38cm naval mortar (used to bust submarines) with a Tiger I tank chassis gave birth to the Sturmtiger.
Watch out for this rolling bunker buster.

GameSpy that according to the results of a search of the
US Patent and Trademark Office's Trademark Electronic Search System (TESS), Digital Illusions has trademarked the name "Battlefield Vietnam" for a PC computer game project. The Trademark was submitted February 12th of this year. Could this be the official sequel to Digital Illusion's ultra popular action game series, Battlefield 1942? Of course this has not been confirmed by EA nor Digital Illusions, but maybe we will hear more about it during the E3
