Kiefer Sutherland of "24" fame is back in the game with a new action/drama series Touch, where a father (Sutherland) discovers his autistic, mute son can predict events before they occur. Created and penned by "Heroes" writer Tim Kring, the new series should premiere early next year and also stars Danny Glover. Could be interesting ...
This weekend, we have no specific plans, so we intend to head to the theater to either check out Contagion, Moneyball or Rise of the Planet of the Apes, but definitely NOT Machine Gun Preacher.

THQ Shutting Down Kaos Studios And Digital Warrington

THQ has confimed that it has shut down Homefront developer Kaos Studios, as well as Digital Warrington (previously known as Juice Games). The Homefront franchise will be moved to its Montreal studio, while employees from the closed outfits will be given the chance to transfer to other locations within the THQ group. While no specifics were given as to why the two developers were shut down, the statement attributed "a strategic realignment within its internal studio structure" for the closures.

Whether you are a PS3, X360, Wii or PC fan, you have to admit that by now, there's so much egg on Sony's face, it must be hard for them to see.
While a $1 billion lawsuit may be a little extreme, I'm not really surprised that this is happening, and it probably won't be the last, either. I'm baffled that this happened in the first place, but the initial reaction also made me scratch my head.
Shortly after it happened, Sony was already on the case, rebuilding its network, improving security and infrastructure, and even moving it to a more secure location. Were they previously running it on a Pentium I computer under the basement stairs, unprotected? Sony Online's data was secure — oh wait, no it wasn't!
Man, what a mess ....

Three years ago Activision made a big splash when it acquired U.K.-based developer Bizarre Creations, known for the Project Gotham Racing franchise and, more recently, Blur. Earlier this year Activision confirmed rumors that it would be trying to sell the studio, but since there were no offers being made, the famed studio, founded in 1994, will be shutting down this week.

White Birds Productions Shut Down

Formed by Benoît Sokal, French developer White Birds Productions, known for such adventures games a Sinking Island, Nikopol, Paradise and others, shut down late 2010 after several months of financial troubles, mainly caused by an important unpaid/canceled project, according to co-founder Michel Bams. Formed in 2003, White Birds Productions recently successfully released Criminology and Babel Rising on iPhone, but the damage had already been done.

It seems that the Bizarre Creations troubles are not the only looming signs over at Activision, as 88 positions (approximately 1% of its workforce) in its California-based Quality Assurance team have been laid off, and Iowa-based Budcat Creations has been shut down.
Krome Studios Financial Woes Continue, Shutting Down

Krome Studios, known for Ty the Tasmanian Tiger, PS2/Wii versions of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, and most recently Blade Kitten, had a good year in 2006. After first acquiring the remainders of Ratbag Games and setting up a new studio in Adelaide, it also took over Atari's Melbourne House that same year. Fast forward to Aug. 2010 and Krome Studios is in financial trouble and it is shutting down the Adelaide Office while handing out pink slips in the other. All in vain according to Aussie website Tsumea, which reveals Krome Studios is shutting down with only a a few contractors remaining to finish up some work.

After supporting 70-90 employees for several months without funding, n-Space, known for NDS titles such as COD: World at War, COD: Modern Warfare, Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2, Toy Story 3 and upcoming games such as COD: Black Ops, Tron: Evolution, GoldenEye 007, was forced to lay people off on Friday but stated that it is down, but not out.

The Chronicles of Spellborn, powered by the Unreal 2.5 Engine, is an MMORPG set in the Enclave of the Five Sacrifices, boasting an original setting and storyline and offers a distinctive art style. Back in 2009, Acclaim announced the free-to-play redevelopment, planned for 2010, but as we indicated a few weeks ago, has been shut down for good indeed.
