'Age of Empires III: Age of Discovery' is set in 1500 A.D. and chronicles the Age of Discovery that started around the time that Columbus "discovered" the new world. The single player campaign follows American history up through 1850, and in multiplayer mode, you'll be able to choose from among eight different civilizations, and there will include free-for-all and team-vs-team matches for up to eight players.

The latest issue of Nintendo Power seems to reveal quite a few of interesting facts. In a listing of upcoming Namco titles it seems that last years hit title Katamari Damaci might be making an appearance on the NDS, but also EA's Goldeneye Rogue Agent is scheduled. Further more there are also the first details about Age of Empires: The Age of Kings, to be published by Majesco. AoE II will of course utilize both screens, bottom will show the game map for playing and controlling the units, while the top view will be used for game info and characteristics. The game will feature 5 civilizations, 15 different buildings that can be constructed and upgrade, 50 unit types, and also wi-fi multiplayer for up to 4 people, which is said to be powered by GameSpy.

PC Gamer issue has revealed the name of Ensemble Studios latest AoE product, as well as the first details. 'Age of Empires III: Age of Discovery' is set in 1500 A.D. and chronicles the Age of Discovery that started around the time that Columbus "discovered" the new world. The single player campaign then follows American history up through 1850. One of the biggest changes is where it will no longer be necesary to drop off gathered resources at specific buildings. In multiplayer mode, you'll be able to choose from among eight different civilizations (so far only the French, Spanish, and British have been confirmed) and there will be, amongst others, free-for-all and team-vs-team matches supporting up to eight players over a LAN or the internet. In the new system, players begin the game with a map of Ancient China, divided into 24 different regions. Players start with one region, and then choose another region to invade. Next, officers will recommend a battle strategy, and then combat begins. Victory goes to the first warrior who unifies all 24 regions under a single kingdom.

Empires version 0.2, the long awaited update, is now available for BF1942 1.6. This FPS/RTS hybrid mod features a commander for each team who builds the team's base and issues orders from an overhead view while everyone else plays from the traditional first person perspective. Teams must fight to control resource nodes to buy bigger and better vehicles and aircraft.
