This is Vegas is an open world, lifestyle action experience, where you live out your Vegas fantasies by fighting, gambling, driving and partying your way through the most decadent, fast-paced and wildest city in the world. Originally scheduled for late 2008, then pushed to 2009, it seems the Warner Bros. buyout of Midway may have its first victim as Gamestop notified customers that the game has been canceled, and removed the product listing.

Back in May, Midway established a timeline for the expected sale of its assets to the highest bidders in accordance with the sale and bid procedures motion filed with the bankruptcy court. Now that the timeline has passed, it turns out that Warner Bros. was
the only interested party, so the sale has been
approved by the Delaware bankruptcy judge.

Midway announced that it has entered into a "stalking horse" asset purchase agreement with Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc., meaning that WBIE would acquire substantially all of Midway's U.S. assets including the Mortal Kombat franchise and its development studios in Chicago/Seattle, but not the TNA/Wheelman franchises.

Last week we reported that Square Enix and Eidos had reached a preliminary agreement for the Japanese developer/publisher to acquire Eidos. The question was how Warner Bros., which already owns 20% of Eidos, would react. As it turns out WBIE is not going to counter offer, but has instead issued a statement saying it is "supportive," and will vote in favor of the takeover.

Yesterday it came to light that Activision Blizzard would not be attending the E3 Media & Business Summit 2008 (as well as not renewing its ESA membership altogether) and while the exhibitors list seemed to be incomplete, NCSoft and Foundation 9 confirmed they are not attending either. While id Software themselves seem to be uncertain (first confirmed, then retracted it) Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment issued a statement making clear that in spite of not being on the list, it will be attending E3.

(WBIE) and has named Jason Hall to head its operations as Senior Vice President, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. The announcement was made today by Kevin Tsujihara, Executive Vice President, Corporate Business Development & Strategy, Warner Bros. Entertainment, and Dan Romanelli, President, Warner Bros. Worldwide Consumer Products. WBIE will have a dual reporting relationship to Tsujihara and to Romanelli.
