Earlier this year an article in Japanese magazine Famitsu claimed Capcom was working on Dead Rising 2, a sequel to 2006's popular zombie shooter. Capcom has yet to official confirm the development but it seems credence has been given to the rumor as Canadian developer Blue Castle Games
revealed that it has been hired by the publisher to work on Dead Rising 2. Blue Castle Games is known for 2K Sports' The Bigs, and is currently also working on MLB Front Office Manager.

a Wii version, the previously
rumored PC edition has not been heard of yet, but instead Capcom's John Diamonon

According to the latest issue of Famitsu, Capcom is bringing 2006's X360 zombie slasher to the Wii, albeit it with several changes. The photography feature has been replaced by a new camera system making the game more action/object oriented. The original's time-lapsed gameplay, causing a lot of players grief due to the frequent dying/shoddy save system, has been removed. Currently only scheduled for release in Japan, end of the year.

A few weeks ago Capcom filed a preemptive lawsuit against MKR Group, producer of 1979's George A. Romero's Dawn of the Dead, to avoid being sued over the similarities between the two properties. However MKR
filed complaint in U.S. District Court in New York claiming both products are "dark comedies," that "the recreational activities of the zombies and absurdly grotesque 'kill scenes' provide unexpected comedic relief," as well as "Both works provided thoughtful social commentary on the 'mall culture' zeitgeist, in addition to serving up a sizable portion of sensationalistic violence." Not really a huge surprise, but the latest Famitsu issue confirms that Capcom is working on Dead Rising 2, the sequel to last year's zombie shooter. While there are no specific details available, it seems that last year's surprise hit will remain exclusive to the Xbox 360.
