While Sony promised that all PSOne and PS2 games would be backward compatible, it also unveiled that even your old savegames will be useable on the PS3. Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman is not happy with the latest Rainbow Six title set in Las Vegas, saying it is harmful for what federal and state leaders have repeatedly assured him is "the safest place imaginable" after the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks. The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority is reviewing whether the game infringes on any Las Vegas trademarks. Others think it might not affect the city but rather reflect poorly on Ubisoft, while yet others claim it will backlash on the developer like Hot Coffee did on Rockstar.

Originally announced on PC, current, and next-gen platforms, Ubisoft's Rainbow Six Vegas seems to be slimming down. A more
recent statement only mentioned next-gen, and when Ubisoft revealed its
E3 lineup earlier this week no versions except PS3 and X360 were listed. A Ubisoft spokes person commented that the Montreal team is currently focussing on those two platforms only, thus in effect cancelling the PS2 and Xbox versions of Tom Clancy's latest tactical shooter.

Today Ubisoft officially announced that it is developing Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas for PC, next- and current-gen consoles. Scheduled for an Autumn 2006 release and developed by Ubisoft’s Montreal studio, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas is the fifth iteration of the Rainbow Six tactical shooter franchise.

A few days ago a countdown clock on
the official Rainbow Six website indicated Ubisoft would be making a major announcement regarding the franchise. Since the clock started at 360 hours, it was generally assumed Rainbow Six would be making an appearance on the Xbox 360. While no additional information is available yet, the latest April issue of EGM indeed confirms Ubisoft's tactical shooter is going next gen, and it will be called Rainbow Six: Vegas. More details are coming Monday when the clock hits zero.

The official
Ion Storm community forum has turned up rumor of a possible AI bug in Thief: Deadly Shadows. If you save and load your in-game progress it will apparently reset the difficulty setting of the game to Normal. Playing Thief 3 on high difficulty has a severe AI distinction where guards are more alert and react differently to open doors, stolen objects and other items. Ion Storm has recognized the problem and are currently working on a solution, which should be easily patchable for the PC edition, on the other hand Microsoft only allow Xbox live patching for online game experiences, which is not the case with Thief 3.
