Several weeks back, the first hints started dropping about a possible new Battlefield game through a leaked trailer and hints in various interviews. A thread on the official
PCGamer forums seems to confirm this, as several people have received their May issue stating it has a Battlefield 2142 article, as well as a trailer on its cover-mounted cd, which can be also be
viewed online. Battlefield 2142 is set in the future, the world is plagued by a second Ice Age, and wars have broken out over the remaining territories. Mech Warrior-meets-Battlefield 2 is the best way to describe it, and it is scheduled for "Fall 2006."

EA today
revealed that we will have to wait a week or 2-3 longer for the BF2 v1.2 patch, caused by some community concerns which had to be addressed first. The delay unfortunately also results in the Euro Force booster pack being pushed back to mid/end February. Good news is that the the Red/Blue nametag bug has been addressed, as well as increased distance for hand grenades, ammo packs, and health packs, turrets will no longer pass through walls, and and last but not least tank/grenade launcher projectiles will less frequently vanish during online play.
