'Battlefield 2142' Confirmed

A community update on the EA website confirms that Battlefield 2142 is under development at DICE Stockholm, with an official announcement expected later this week. "we're currently hard at work developing Battlefield 2142, which is scheduled for release this Autumn. As you'll have guessed, this is a departure for the BF series as we're going into the future - something that a lot of you wanted to see happen in the BF universe. We're creating a ton of cool features that you won't have seen in any BF before, including cloaking devices, mines that follow you, awesome new rifles, guns and grenades, and of course, MECHS! "

For fans of Call of Duty 2 for PC, Infinity Ward and Activision have also revealed new details surrounding the upcoming release of a highly-anticipated update, which will include the previously announced PunkBuster anti-cheat technology, as well as two new multiplayer maps: Rhine and the longtime community favorite Harbor, from the original Call of Duty. No specifics on when the patch will be released.

Activision announced that it has released a new Xbox 360 title update for Infinity Ward's WW2 based FPS Call of Duty 2 offering significant enhancements, including improved multiplayer performance, the ability to reserve friend slots in private game lobbies, post-game lobbies so friends can play longer, configurable host options and more. Log into Xbox Live and the update will be automatically applied.
