Australian screenwriter Stuart Beattie, known for writing Pirates of the Caribbean, Collateral and most recently G.I. Joe and Gears of War movies, turns out to be a big Halo fan, and, according to
Latino Review has penned a spec screenplay based on Eric Nylund's movel Halo: The Fall of Reach in an attempt to revive the project after movie studios Universal Studios and Fox
backed out of the deal with Peter Jackson and Microsoft. A spec screenplay means "speculative," a term used for somebody writing a script on hisr own behalf, without payment.

Set in New York, Rockstar is bringing its open-ended crime series to the next-gen consoles with Grand Theft Auto IV, situated around mysterious protagonist Nikolai. After the UK certification board BBFC gave Rockstar a hard time with Manhunt 2, it was going to be interesting to see what it would do with the imminent GTA IV, but apparently much ado about nothing, as it was just granted an 18+ approval rating for "strong violence, very strong language, sex and drug references."
