by Rainier on Dec. 1, 2022 @ 2:58 p.m. PST

World War 3 is a multiplayer FPS set in a global military conflict taking place in the third decade of the 21st century.

Strong teamplay, national armed forces, real locations, full body awareness, and a versatile customization system all contribute to the authenticity of the modern combat experience enhanced by other essential elements such as a robust ballistic system, advanced armors and life-like weapons.

Join the fight in massive, 64-player infantry battles, gain advantage over the enemy with personalized weapons, vehicles and drones.

Produced in cooperation with military R&D centers and consultants, World War 3 shows the consequences of every battle in the context of a global war campaign on a strategic war map. The emphasis is put on offering true-to-life modern battlefield, and combat focused on teamwork. We aim at offering authentic tactical combat operations in an unpredictable theater of war, striving for top playability and an authentic experience.

World War 3 enables you to take part in virtual battles using both infantry and military vehicles, allowing the player to choose soldiers from all over the world, including the Polish Armed Forces.

In addition to an intense PvP gameplay and state-of-the-art, realistic graphics, World War 3  also serves as a source of new ideas for the online shooters genre. The game’s authors will propose innovative mechanisms related to the interaction between players, monetization, teamwork and strategic planning. The game will also offer many solutions influenced by real warfare, and the modern arms industry – something that you will not find in the genre nowadays.

World War 3’s Warzone game mode features large-scale combined arms battles with infantry, armored vehicles and drones; its Recon mode features a fresh approach to the battle royale genre. Strong teamplay, national armed forces, real locations, full body awareness, and a versatile customization system all contribute to the authenticity of the modern combat experience enhanced by other essential elements such as a robust ballistic system, advanced armors and life-like weapons. Produced in cooperation with military R&D centers and consultants, World War 3 shows the consequences of every battle in the context of a global war campaign on a strategic war map. During the Early Access stage, the game will be available at a soft price.

World War 3’s gameplay will not be limited to dynamic firefights. The key to victory will lie in teamwork and smart strategic planning.

Wishlist Games announced that World War 3 is launching its first seasonal update on December 8. This also marks the end of the open beta stage. In ‘Operation Redline’ the conflict expands to a new region, bringing new maps in the Korean DMZ and the Chinese Gobi Desert and adding new military gear from both South-Korean and Chinese militaries.

Operation Redline will be the first Global Operation. These major seasonal content updates are themed around new Conflict Zones, nations or locations which expand the world of the game while escalating the conflict within it. Additional game content will be released alongside each Global Operation, including new maps, features, game modes, quality-of-life improvements, and weapons, strikes, and vehicles to help turn the tide of war in your favor. Redline is the first Global Operation to arrive in YEAR 1 of World War 3, with three more to follow in 2023. For more information, check out the Content Roadmap on the official website.

Operation Redline will focus on China and the Korean Peninsula. Two new battlegrounds will become available in these Conflict Zones as tensions mount in World War 3. The Gobi map will be for frantic Team Deathmatches while the DMZ map is a larger map to accommodate the Tactical Ops mode.

  • Gobi (Team Deathmatch): Encompassing land across China and Mongolia, the Gobi Desert is the world’s sixth-largest desert. As a storm rages around you, work as a team to battle it out in the dusty chambers of an ancient temple.
  • DMZ (Tactical Ops): The Korean Demilitarized Zone is the border barrier separating North and South Korea. Flanked by oceans and running 250km, it is heavily guarded on both sides by soldiers, razor wire, landmines, heavy armaments, and other dangerous deterrents. Use uneven terrain to your advantage as you fight to secure objectives in this no man’s land.

But it’s not just new maps, players can unlock brand-new Blueprints to access new tactical approaches with even more weapons, vehicles, and strikes:

  • Operator Blueprints: Customize your Operator with gear based on the Republic of Korea’s 707th Special Mission Group and China’s People's Liberation Army Ground Force (PLAGF).
  • Weapons: Arm your Operator with South Korea’s standard issue K2C1 (Assault Rifle) and the Chinese bullpup QBZ-95 (Assault Rifle).
  • Vehicles and Strikes: Bring in the big guns and unleash China’s ZTZ-99 (Main Light Battle Tank), strike back with South Korea’s K21 (Light Infantry Fighting Vehicle), and get an eye in the sky with the IMUGI (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle).

Note: All base Blueprints for new gear, weapons, vehicles, and strikes in Operation Redline can be unlocked via free progression and do not require the purchase of a Battle Pass.

In addition to new content, the development team at Farm 51 has been working on improvements and new features for World War 3. With the launch of the new season on December 8th an airdrop of quality of life updates is being shipped, including more realistic weapon and movement collision, base protection, changes to player’s health bars to better communicate their operational status, the ability to reload while leaning, and changes to vehicle spawning.

World War 3 is currently available in Open Beta on Steam, with Operation Redline launching on December 8th. The base game is free to play but with the start of Operation Redline players can also purchase a Battle Pass, which contains exclusive rewards. By completing challenges, players can unlock over 50 Tiers of Free and Premium rewards, including new and unique customization options for Operators, weapons, strikes, and more. The Battle Pass will launch alongside Operation Redline on December 8th.

OBRUM has long been the leading R&D center in the area of broadly taken defense technologies. It is spearheading the scientific and technological development of the Polish arms industry.

The Farm 51 is cooperating with those organizations in the area of advanced combat and training simulators that greatly improve the soldiers’ abilities and efficiency on the battlefield, while minimizing training costs.

Key Features:

  • Warzone and Recon – a complete package: World War 3 presents a modern conflict with tactics, techniques and procedures inspired by true combat engagements. Warzone offers opportunities for dynamic, intense firefights in teamwork-focused battles of infantry and armored units over fortified points. The tactically-oriented Recon allows players to cooperate within small reconnaissance squads left on their own to survive and capture high-value targets in hostile territory. Together these modes create a coherent gameplay experience aimed at presenting the actual feel of modern warfare.
  • True combat experience: The most authentic bullet vs. armor system in the FPS genre to date, achieved through years of research and development with military professionals. Ballistics, a weight system, full body awareness, vehicle physics, and an extensive customization system all affect the gameplay in a meaningful way.
  • Strong teamplay: World War 3 supports team-based gameplay rewarding the initiative in playing as a part of a squad. Responsible cooperation within a squad is the best recipe for combat effectiveness. Players can choose between assuming the role of an Attacker or a Defender, and use any gear available to support their playstyle – what matters is the victory.
  • Strategic war map: To show the consequences of every battle, player performance is rewarded with resources used to conquer or defend a territory, gain additional bonuses via the metagame and turn the tide of war. Every destroyed vehicle, every kill, every bullet fired, every achievement affects the big picture presented on a constantly evolving, interactive war map eventually covering the entire planet.
  • National pride: World War 3 is heavily grounded in military realism, offering accurate depictions of weapons, uniforms and equipment of national armed forces inspiring players to make their war effort personal and prove their country is the dominant force on the battlefield. The maps are based on real-life locations such as the streets of Warsaw, Berlin and Moscow (more locations planned) recreated with an unprecedented attention to detail.
  • Versatile customization: Players are able to personalize every part of their equipment, choosing from hundreds of combinations of unique weapon parts, attachments, skins, camos and paints. The same applies to vehicles and tactical gear and uniforms. If it’s possible in real life, it’s possible in World War 3.
  • No strings attached: No paid loot boxes and pay-to-win approaches to game design. We consider it very important to stay true to the community and deliver the best game we can without resorting to such practices – as players ourselves we believe that the sense of pride and accomplishment should come with no paywall.

World War 3 is currently under development for PC (Steam).
