the New York Videogame Critics Circle (NYVGCC) revealed the lineup of special guests for the 13th Annual New York Game Awards. The awards will be hosted by former Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aimé, NYVGCC founder and president Harold Goldberg, and Laptop Mag editor-in-chief Sherri L. Smith. Audiences are in for a treat with a musical performance from Kimberly Hawkey and the annual comedic “In-Memoriam” segment from Emmy award-winning Daily Show writer Devin Delliquanti.
For those who can’t attend the in-person show, the New York Game Awards will stream the awards live from the SVA Theatre in Manhattan on the NYVGCC YouTube and Twitch channels.
“2023 set an impossibly high bar for video games, and the New York Game Awards is our way to celebrate the best games of the year while highlighting the people who bring their heart and soul to the games industry,” said Harold Goldberg, president and founder, NYVGCC. “Our team works hard each year to bring a best-in-class show that continues to support our nonprofit work and Playing with Purpose program, and this year is no different. We have an exceptional lineup for people to enjoy live in-person and during the show’s livestream on YouTube and Twitch.”
Kimberly Hawkey
With a voice like a time machine, Kimberly Hawkey effortlessly blends genres while providing a vintage experience transcending the modern age. Hawkey is a Johnny Mercer Award winner, a gold medalist at the American Traditions Vocal Competition, and a two-time winner of the Cabaret Showdown in New York City.
James Ledbetter
James Ledbetter is an established fintech editor at Observer and FIN and previously worked with outlets such as Inc., Reuters, Fortune Magazine, Slate, Time Magazine, and CNN Money. He has published six books, including his most recent book, One Nation Under Gold.
Devin Delliquanti
Known for his work on The Daily Show, Devin is an accomplished writer, producer, comedian, and frequent collaborator with the New York Game Awards, where he produces the “In Memoriam” segment, a humorous look back at the best game deaths featured in 2023 games and industry trends that have come and gone.
Sherri L. Smith
Sherri is the editor-in-chief of Laptop Mag and the first Black woman EIC of a major tech publication. With a deep love of gaming and tech, she’s covered consumer electronics for almost 20 years and has been a member of the NYVGCC since 2015. Sherri is a leading voice on gaming hardware and software, audio equipment, premium tech, and more.
Proceeds from the New York Game Awards will fund NYVGCC’s educational efforts and programs for 2024. Tickets are available through Eventbrite. Tickets cost $60 for General Admission, $75 for VIP with orchestra seating, and $90 for VIP with free game codes and a raffle to win a Neil Druckmann-signed collector’s edition of The Last of Us Part II.
