Both your party of Pawns and enemies alike will react dynamically to your actions on the battlefield, whether you cling to the backs of monsters or seek to dispatch them from afar. Your vocation allows you to choose your playstyle, and whether you will use swords, bows, or potent magick to bring your foes to heel.
In the above Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen - Relic Expedition Gameplay Overview video presentation, Capcom revealed the Relic Expedition Cycle that Arisen will experience as they explore the frigid expanse of Norgan when the Dark Arisen Expansion releases on October 9! Each journey out into the frozen wilds requires both skill and preparation, while each safe return offers the opportunity for new gear and skills to cut closer to the mystery at the heart of Norgan.
In anticipation of the expansion’s release, today’s free Title Update makes it a perfect time to jump back into Dragon’s Dogma™ 2 with framerate improvements, extra save slots, and an expanded number of assignable weapon skills for combat.
Preparing for an Expedition
The Relic ExpeditionGameplay Walkthrough transports the Arisen to the Norgandian Settlement, the lone bastion of peace left in a region that was once prosperous and richly populated. Now, all that remains of that civilization are timeworn relics of an ancient war guarded by monsters or hidden within the frost covered wastes. In order to survive their treks outside the settlement, Arisen must make careful preparations: ensuring ample provisions for their expedition, enhancing their gear, and resting without fear of enemy incursions.
Seeking Spoils
The inhabitants of Norgan outside the settlement walls all pose a dire risk to explorers. The Beorcan warriors attack all who approach their smoldering firepits, while the Norgan Giant can entomb adversaries in ice with a single breath. These foes often hold powerful relics, while other fearsome adversaries such as the ice dragon Fimbl possess relics of even more profound potential. Confrontation is not the only path to power, as sharp-eyed Arisen will often have their curiosity rewarded when investigating the abandoned settlements and caves of the region. The Norgandian Settlement’s resident direwolf Freki can also help guide Arisen to spoils for a price.
Appraising Relics
Relics gathered by the Arisen will only have their true potential unlocked after being appraised by the matron of the Norgandian Settlement, Jiera. While certain relics may appear similar at first, their final form may differ wildly. Weapons and armor received through appraisal will not only offer increased stats based upon the rarity of the original relic, but can also bestow new abilities or refine skills already possessed by the Arisen and their Pawn.
