Sony Officially Announces PSPgo - Screens

Though information about it was leaked a few days ago, the PSPgo was officially unveiled this morning at the Sony press conference. Created with portable, pocket-sized gaming in mind, the PSPgo will come with 16GB of internal flash memory and be priced at $249.99 and be available October 2009. Also on display during the event was a prototype controller that will work with the PlayStation Eye to add depth perception to the gaming experience. New red, silver and blue Dualshock 3 controllers will also be available later this year.

During Microsoft's pre-E3 2009 Media Briefing, it not only revealed that Facebook, Twitter and Last.fm are coming to Xbox Live, new Netflix and HDTV features and controller-free gaming, but it also confirmed that Splinter Cell Conviction will be an X360 exclusive and announced a slew of new titles, including Crackdown 2, Forza Motorsport 3, Halo: Reach and a bunch more.

Today, Microsoft opened the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) with a historic Xbox 360 briefing. In addition to premiering 10 exclusive new games, revolutionizing the way we watch TV, and making it easier to connect to friends, Xbox also welcomed filmmaker Steven Spielberg to introduce "Project Natal" and full-body, controller-free gaming.

Microsoft today announced that the Xbox 360 would deliver instant 1080p movies and TV with 5.1 surround sound — direct to consoles connected to compatible HD TVs through Xbox Live.

Facebook, Twitter, Last.fm, Games on Demand, New Titles Coming to Xbox Live

Groove, party or connect with a friend. Xbox Live today announced that Facebook and Last.fm would be tailor-made for your TV, only on Xbox 360. Microsoft also announced Twitter for the X360 and Xbox Live Party for movies, which allows movie experiences to be shared on the couch or across the country over Xbox Live. Future updates will include Games on Demand, unlockable in-game Avatar Awardables, user ratings, and a continuation of XBLA games over the summer.

BlizzCon 2009 Tickets Now Available

Tickets for Blizzard's fourth BlizzCon gaming convention, which takes place Aug. 21-22 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, Calif., are now on sale. The event Tickets are priced at $125 each and can be purchased online. A Pay Per View event is available via Direct TV and as an Internet stream; both are priced at $39.95.

Take-Two Sues 3D Realms for 'Duke Nukem Forever' Code, 3DR Denies $30M Buyout

Hot on the heels of 3D Realms' sudden shutdown last week, Take-Two has sued 3D Realms for failing to deliver Duke Nukem Forever. The associated case documents reveal that Take-Two is suing for the source code and has filed a restraining order to ensure that the code and assets remain secure and "unharmed" before the case goes to trial. Scott Miller, co-founder of 3D Realms, has shot down the rumor that Take-Two offered to buy the Duke Nukem IP for the reported $30 million.

Croteam Reveals 'Serious Sam 3' in Development

Croteam CEO Roman Ribaric has announced that the company has recently begun "development on two games, one of which is the next Serious Sam FPS game." The game will use the proprietary Serious 3 engine, and Croteam is close to signing a publishing deal for the title. A lot still remains to be done on the game, though, so there's no firm release date.

Video Game Sales Down 17%, Current-Gen Console Sales Drop in April

The recession and the lack of a blockbuster release combined to significantly reduced U.S. video game sales in April, according to NPD Group. Sales fell 17% in April compared to a year ago, and 30% when compared to the previous month. Also compared to March 2009, sales of the Wii in April were down 43% percent, X360 sales were down 47%, and PS3 sales dropped 41.7%.
