Well almost... Sony Online has announced that it will give new Planetside, SOE's MMOFPS, players the chance to play for free for a period of 12 months. Essentially, new players will be able to have access to any part of the game but will have limitations on the BattleRank, which affects the diversity of their arsenal. The UI will also get an overhaul to make it easier for newcommers and plenty of new items and weapon variants are getting added. Expected launch, February 14.

Many RPG fans were probably looking forward to the Heroes of Might & Magic 5 open beta which was set to launch today. Unfortunately, nothing happened.
