The fate of China once again hangs in the balance this week as video gamers finally get their chance to play the landmark 10th edition of KOEI's Romance of the Three Kingdoms game series. The Seattle Times is reporting that Monolith Productions is laying off 80 employees after transferring two of its game titles (Matrix Online and a yet to be announced DC Comics MMO) to Sony Online Entertainment. At least 25 of those employees have been offered jobs at Sony Online Entertainment's Bellevue office, about two miles away. After the layoffs Monolith still employs about 100 people and continues to develop F.E.A.R, for Vivendi, and Condemned: Criminal Origins for SEGA.
