'Deep Rock Galactic' (ALL) Added On Xbox Game Pass, Unveils Q1 Roadmap

by Rainier on Nov. 5, 2020 @ 5:08 p.m. PST

Deep Rock Galactic is a procedurally generated first person co-op shooter for up to 4 players.

As a team of veteran dwarven space miners, you must go on missions for your corporate overlords and venture into the deepest, most dangerous cave systems of the most hostile planet ever discovered.

Experience teamwork as you’ve never experienced it in a co-op game before. Complete missions and gather ever more riches. Expand your roster of class-based skills, unlock new gear and weapons, and take on the worst monsters the galaxy has to offer.

Players take up arms as one of four classes of badass dwarven miners, each with their own invaluable set of skills and gear. The Driller, the Engineer, the Scout and the Gunner must work together to survive a relentless onslaught of ravenous aliens and escape the procedurally generated caves with their bounty intact.

Enlisted dwarves will be paired with up to three like-minded brethren and sent on missions to the most hostile planet ever discovered, Hoxxes IV, to mine precious gems and metals. Cooperation is essential to your success and, as an interplanetary mining conglomerate, Deep Rock Galactic depends on its employees to take care of each other.

Starting today, Deep Rock Galactic is available for free to download from Xbox Game Pass, for Xbox and PC, with a download and install size smaller than 2GB.

Ghost Ship Games and Coffee Stain Publishing have released their current update roadmap.

This roadmap reveals the details of Update 33, set to drop in January 2021:

  • New Biome: Caustic Mire
    • A sweltering, yellow green hellscape of toxic fumes and brittle mineral crusts covering corrosive stagnant pools. Only few things will live or grow here, but those that do are among the toughest on the planet. Full PPE is advised.
  • New Biome: Azure Weald
    • Deep blue and purple, the Azure Weald brings to mind a deep alien sea, in all its splendor and horror. Bioluminescent clusters of lichen light up the darkness, illuminating this fertile overgrown biome in flickering neon colors. A chilly, oddly beautiful place, the cold fog hangs thick in the dense air.
  • New Enemy Types
    • Priority warning! Reports are coming in about horrible new strains of beasties on Hoxxes! The flying Mactera have evolved a bunch of new Veteran forms, and the Glyphid Dreadnought can now appear in several different varieties! The Scanner Department also reports a slew of other, as-yet-unidentified bio signs down in the depths…
  • Proper M.U.L.E Docking
    • It’s been a long time coming: the M.U.L.E will receive a proper animation setup for exiting and entering the Drop Pod, and a little bay and crane all to herself.
  • Mineral Trade Overhaul
    • Like the Assignment Terminal before it, the Mineral Trade Terminal has been in need of an overhaul for a while. Now it’s here! All new spiffy visuals — and tasty Daily Deals too!

The Deep Rock Galactic Original Soundtrack Volume I + II has gone ‘Gold’, reaching this milestone by selling over 100,000 copies. One hundred fifty minutes of gut-punching space dwarf synth goodness, composed in-house by Ghost Ship Games.

Key Features:

  • 1 to 4 player Co-Op: Work together as a team to dig, explore, and fight your way through massive cave systems filled with hordes of deadly enemies and valuable resources.
  • 4 Unique Classes: Mow through enemies as the Gunner, scout ahead and light up the caves as the Scout, chew through solid rock as the Driller, or support the team with defensive structures and turrets as the Engineer.
  • Fully Destructible Environments: Destroy everything around you to reach your goal. There is no set path so you can complete your mission your way. But proceed with caution, you don’t want to stumble into an alien swarm unprepared!
  • Procedurally Generated Cave Network: Explore a network of procedurally generated cave systems filled with enemies to fight and riches to collect.
  • High-Tech Gadgets and Weapons: Clean the caves of Hoxxes IV with the CSPR Flamethrower and the "Lead Storm" Powered Minigun, light the way with flares, tackle tough terrain with the Reinforced Power Drill and reach new heights with the grappling hook.

Deep Rock Galactic is available on PC (Steam) and Xbox One (Microsoft Store) for $29.99/€29.99/£24.99.
