Borderlands 4 is the most ambitious Borderlands to date, lovingly hand-crafted by the development studio that first forged the looter shooter genre.
2K and Gearbox Software announced new details for Borderlands 4’s Story Pack 2: FL4K and the Last Resort and Bounty Pack 5: Amara and the Vile Shadows, both launching on September 10, 2026. Story Pack 2 content introduces the all-new Vault Hunter, Loveless the Hacker, and brings a new zone packed with missions, collectibles, and eye-catching landmarks; intimidating enemies and intense boss fights; tons of new loot; and much more. Bounty Pack 5 delivers an all-new repeatable mission alongside new bosses, cosmetics, and legendary gear.
Venture into the Verdant Wilds of Providence
On the remote island of Providence, a tropical resort neighboring a majestic volcano and made for the Timekeeper's chosen is about to become a warzone. The Tediore corporation, looking to secure the island’s precious Ordonite resource, has sent an expeditionary group to Providence led by five elite managers who serve the ruthless Lieutenant Harmony. Players will team up with FL4K, an unequaled beastmaster returning from Borderlands 3, to save their loyal skag companion Mr. Chew and teach the Tediore corporation a brutal lesson.
The island is crawling with Tediore troops, including soldiers in exo-suits that fight on even after their fleshy centers are shot dead and hulking mechs with varying weapon attachments that can buff their allies and digistruct reinforcements into battle. Eliminating Tediore's rank-and-file grunts, colossal war machines, and the elite managers who lead them will give players their shot at taking on Lt. Harmony. Reaching her will be a challenge itself, as Tediore has converted the volcano on Providence into a base-of-operations bunker. That volcano is very much still active, and can spew out Ordonite-infused lava across the island, including molten rocks that spawn minibosses on impact in new world events.
Verticality is a core part of Providence's layout, bolstered by a new type of mobility: ziplines. Players can traverse high above the treetops of Providence's jungle by grappling onto these ziplines and use them to reach new vantage points or get the upper hand in combat. Another new type of activity exclusive to Providence is the opportunity to upload into Tediore's digiverse servers, battling waves of enemies at the source before they can materialize into the physical world.
Players who manage to survive Providence's treacherous wilds and the legion of Tediore troops occupying them will have a chance for some incredibly powerful new loot, including two new Pearlescent weapons and 18 pieces of Legendary gear.
Play as the New Vault Hunter: Loveless the Hacker
Players can traverse the lush jungles of Providence as the second new Vault Hunter coming to Borderlands 4, Loveless the Hacker, an ex-Anshin hacker turned assassin. Equipped with the highest-end cybernetics, Loveless shares her mind with a digital virus of her own creation, which can digistruct into a physical form that acts as a deadly extension of her shared, perfection-seeking will.
Loveless the Hacker and her cosmetics will be available for individual purchase, separate from the Story Pack 2 narrative content, map zone, and missions. A deeper look into Loveless gameplay is coming soon, as she will have her own dedicated episode of the Gearbox DevCast going live on September 3.
Even More Content is Coming with Bounty Pack 5: Amara and the Vile Shadows
The arrival of the Elpis moon changed Kairos forever, and now the planet is showing signs of coming apart completely. With her Siren powers and attunement to Phase energies, Amara has pinpointed a possible source of the worsening instability: one of Vile Lictor's old laboratories, where Order Synths that once served him lie dormant.
Players will team up with Amara to track down the Phase disturbances and stop their propagation before they unravel the known universe. This new mission will give players a chance to revisit Elpis and the Phase dimension that connects all Sirens, both key elements to the overall story of Borderlands 4. Additionally, Bounty Pack 5 will delve deeper into the lore of Sirens and their vital place in the Borderlands universe, as Amara grapples with the possibility that her tether to the Phase has been permanently disrupted.
Completing the mission will unlock a Vault Hunter Skin usable by all Vault Hunters, a Vehicle, and an ECHO-4 Drone Skin. Players can also take on a new boss, two new mini-bosses, and new Vile enemy types to earn a new Pearlescent weapon and six new pieces of Legendary loot.
Available to purchase separately from Bounty Pack 5: Amara and the Vile Shadows’ narrative-focused content, Bounty Pack 5: Vault Card 5 lets players earn new space-age rewards through gameplay, with 24 cosmetic items and four pieces of rerollable gear to unlock.
Story Pack 2, Loveless the Hacker, and Bounty Pack 5 will all arrive as part of the Version 1.10 update arriving on September 10. This update will increase the max level cap by 10 levels for all Borderlands 4 players.
Also coming on September 10, players will now be able to purchase the individual parts of the Story Pack 1 and Bounty Pack 2 DLCs separately. This was previously only available for DLC starting with Bounty Pack 3. As part of this change, players who own either part of Story Pack 1 or Bounty Pack 2 on PlayStation 5 or XBOX Series X|S will need to navigate to each listing for these separate parts on their platform's storefront to redownload their content starting on September 10. This is due to the individual contents of these DLC packs being made available for purchase separately on console platforms.
