Konami of Europe has reaffirmed its commitment to PC and the Xbox with the announcement of Apocalyptica - an epic tale of the battle between good and evil set in a desolate 3D game world. The PC game will be released in September, with the Xbox version to follow. Overseen by Konami's new European development studio and created by Telford-based Extreme FX, Apocalyptica is a stunning third-person action title, set in a bleak future. As his power grows, Satan stands on the cusp of universal domination, with his unholy troops swarming across the galaxy like a plague.

The Rugrats embark on a magical adventure to Stu Pickles' Play Palace 3000 (PP3K). As Tommy, Chuckie, Kimi, Phil and Lil all take turns climbing up to the PP3K, they soon find that something's amiss. Every time they climb higher, the Palace moves further out of their reach. Angelica, the self-appointed Queen of PP3K, has dubbed the rest of the Rugrats her loyal subjects who will need to obey her commands. As the Rugrats defiantly refuse Queen Angelica's demands, they each find their most treasured items haven fallen in her possession. Tommy and company must now begin their adventure to reclaim their treasures so they too can play in the PP3K.

Capcom released some more screens earlier today. Viewtiful Joe is a super hero with all the confidence, punch and style of a million-dollar action-hero caught in the world of a Hollywood movie. Mythic Entertainment has shipped more than 150,000 copies of Dark Age of Camelot's expansion pack: Shrouded Isles in Europe, due to strong demand throughout the continent. A week after its release in mid-February, Mythic's European distributor Wanadoo reported that more than 60 percent of the units in retail outlets had sold through their copies of Shrouded Isles. In addition, almost 90 percent of the players of the original Dark Age of Camelot have already purchased the expansion pack in Europe. Mythic's Dark Age of Camelot: Shrouded Isles reached the number one spot in entertainment CD-ROM sales in France the week of release, according to GFK, a marketing company, which runs the French consoles and PC software reference panel.

Atari and Reflections Interactive announced today that the release date for Driver 3, the highly anticipated third installment of the smash hit Driver franchise, has been moved to Spring 2004. The game was previously slated for release during the 2003 Holiday season.

The official VIETCONG site got a new 15MB movie available for Gathering's recently released first-person shooter, VIETCONG (thanks Unrealik). "Enter the jungle in Vietcong, an action-packed first person shooter set in the harsh landscape of Vietnam. As an elite member of the US forces, you'll lead up to six team members on 20 dangerous and intense single player missions. Multiplayer action lets you choose either a US or Vietcong soldier, and battle up to 64 players on a variety of detailed maps".

The Sydney Mystery is a mystery adventure game fully photographed on location in Sydney, Australia. The full game features over 240 scenes, 17 real Sydney locations, and 11 characters. Capcom has updated the PN03, in development by its internal studio, Production Studio 4, Japanese website. P.N. 03, directed by Shinji Mikami, is described as an action game starring a female soldier named Vanessa Z. Schneider. She's a mercenary armed with a high-powered laser--and she's a robot killer. Robots at a colonial settlement have gone wild on a nearby planet, and it's up to Vanessa--whose parents were killed by the same system overrunning the settlement--to stop them. Not much is known about the game's action, but it is described as containing dodging capabilities and transforming mechs. The game is due to hit Japan in spring of 2003.

Noticed on HomeLAN that Namco has licensed the popular Half-Life modification Counter-Strike for use in its new chain of Ledzone entertainment centers, Impress Game Watch reports today. Namco's original version of the game will be called "Counter-Strike Neo," and the company plans to release a test version this month. CS Neo is substantially similar to the latest version of the game for American PC gamers, but it incorporates a more simplified interface and a detailed tutorial mode to acclimate inexperienced players to the game. Namco's setup is built around two-on-two games, but its facilities are able to accomodate larger games, and the company hopes to host competitive events sanctioned by the Cyberathlete Professional League in the future.

Sequel to the notorious original, this iteration of the envelope-pushing franchise puts players once again in the well-worn shoes of the hair-trigger Postal Dude. POSTAL 2 operates on Epic's Unreal Warfare Engine and benefits from a host of new features including: fully-explorable open-ended 3D environments, innovative first person shooter action and interaction with well over a hundred unique non-playable characters (NPC's) including Gary Coleman (Arnold from 80's TV show 'Different Strokes').

In Dino Crisis 3, a team of intergalactic Marines discovers a Colony Spaceship infested with cold-blooded beasts. Fighting a constant battle for survival, the team must fight together to survive the ensuing chaos. Equipped with jet propulsion packs, the main characters can maneuver quickly through the environment. The proposed demo for Breed, an epic first person shooter for the PC, has been delayed yet again. The release date of the Breed demo has been postponed until the middle of April. This has been due to problems in two areas: with the localization of the demo (the demo is published in German and English language) & with various smaller technical problems. This has resulted in unforeseeable delays in the production process and ultimately a delay in releasing the demo. CDV prefers therefore to give to the Breed demo some more time so that gamers expectations can be fulfilled. An exact demo release date will be communicated in the course of the coming week.
