America's Army: Operations Goes Gold

The U.S. Army today announced that its America's Army: Operations computer game has gone gold. The game will be available on a free CD at the beginning of October at local Army Recruiting stations, ROTC Detachment and Army events to be listed at America's Army. The game CD will feature many missions that can be downloaded from a number of mirrored sites listed at Go Army and Aamerica's Army, as well as several exclusive levels including swamp raid and mountain ambush missions.

'Mindware Studios' is preparing to show off their first title, an action/adventure game 'Cold War' at the ECTS later this week and released a few new screens. Cold War will put the player in the role of Chaser Jones, an American reporter caught in a web of intrigue and conspiracy in the Soviet Union during the 80's. The game will emphasize stealth (much like IGI2 and other recent tactical shooters), and will take you to Eastern European historical settings such as the Red Square, Chernobyl and Baikonur.

GameHouse Sells 100,000th Copy of 'Super Collapse'

GameHouse announced today that it has made its 100,000th sale of its downloadable game, Super Collapse, less than 10 months after it was released. “Collapse has been wildly popular —this is our first downloadable game to achieve this mile marker so quickly,” says Garr Godfrey, cofounder of GameHouse, which features a variety of free and downloadable games on its web site. “The demand for Collapse has been so unbelievable that we are considering introductions of similar games,” concludes Godfrey, hinting there soon may be a new offering in the works. Super Collapse, released last November, was named 2001 Game of the Year by RealNetworks. The objective is to collapse blocks before they rise to the top of the screen, with game play accelerating as players progress to new levels. Available for both PC and Mac OS X, the game features bonus levels that are not available on previous versions, in addition to a host of other features.
